Fabrication & assemblies

Sheet metal parts, enclosures, welded structures and industrial assemblies. One brief covering fabrication, finish and inspection requirements.

Overview

How we source fabrication & assemblies.

Fabrication projects bring several processes together: cutting, forming, welding, finishing and often assembly. We write one brief that covers all of them, so the supplier quotes the complete job and there is no confusion about who is responsible for what.

From laser-cut brackets to large welded frames, we match your project to fabricators with the right equipment, welding qualifications and finishing capability, and we agree the inspection and packing standard before production starts.

Getting a useful quote

What to include in your RFQ.

The more complete the brief, the more accurate the quotation. Missing something? Send what you have and we will help fill the gaps.

  • General arrangement and detail drawings, plus 3D models or flat patterns if available
  • Material, thickness and any welding standard (e.g. ISO 3834, AWS D1.1)
  • Finish specification — coating type, colour (RAL), thickness
  • Assembly scope and bill of materials for bought-in items
  • Quantities, packing and shipping constraints (size and weight)

Quality

Checkpoints agreed before production starts.

  • Welding procedure and welder qualification review where required
  • First-off dimensional and fit-up inspection
  • Coating thickness and adhesion checks
  • Pre-shipment inspection of assembly, labelling and packing

Inspection scope is agreed per project and can include independent third-party inspection where required.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can large fabrications be shipped economically?

Sometimes. Size, weight and how well a product flat-packs or nests have a big effect on freight cost. We factor this in at quotation stage and may suggest design changes such as bolted rather than welded joints.

Can you include bought-in components in an assembly?

Yes. We can source standard parts locally or work with free-issue components you supply, as agreed in the brief.
